In this course, students will achieve a high-level understanding of the NIST-based Risk Management Framework, including key processes such as: Categorizing an Information System; Security Control Selection and similar component tasks.  Instructors typically share their recent experiences in order to help students learn both detailed application of the techniques as well as the larger, project-based picture.  All topics and concepts raised during the instruction are based upon the following NIST Special Publications and Federal Information Processing Standards (e.g. FIPS 199 and FIPS 200). Lunarline’s FISMA training provides students with a fundamental knowledge of the Federal Information Security Management Act. Students will increase awareness on the framework to manage risk, ensure confidentiality, availability and integrity of federal information and information systems. This course will also provide an understanding of the purpose of the certification and accreditation process, initiation of the system authorization process, and a thorough run-through of the certification, accreditation, and continuous monitoring phase. The FISMA In-Depth Course will cover FIPS 199, NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-39, NIST SP 800-30, NIST SP 800-34, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 80053A, and the development of Systems Security Plan (SSP), Security Assessment Report (SAR), and Plan Of Action and Milestones (POA&M). We use all approved templates from NIST Guidance.
